Nimbu Paani
Nimbu Paani is the traditional Indian lemonade. In India, it is not just a refreshment but a remedy against the heat.
Ingredients
- Lemons or limes: 2, juiced
- Cold water: 500 ml
- Sugar or agave syrup: 2-3 tablespoons
- Salt (or kala namak): 1/4 teaspoon

Ground cumin (toasted): 1/2 teaspoon
- Fresh mint: a few leaves
- Ice cubes: a good handful

The Syrup — Mix the lemon juice, sugar and salt in a pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves.

The Hydration — Add the cold water and cumin powder. Stir vigorously.

The Flavouring — Crush the mint leaves between your hands to release the essential oils. Drop them into the pitcher.

Serving — Pour into glasses filled with ice cubes.
Tips
The salt helps retain hydration (electrolytes). Cumin aids digestion, perfect after a spicy meal.
