Welcome to the world of wooden block printing.
This traditional art originating from India, especially from the Rajasthan region, is not limited to printing a wooden block on fabric. We have designed and developed various blocks with the help of extremely talented Indian artisans who have hand-carved these magnificent pieces. The harmony of shapes, colors, and fabrics is found in this workshop that we offer. At the end of this workshop, you will leave with a wooden block printed fabric that you have designed yourself.

The Initiation course

What will you learn in our initiation course?
- The history of block printing.
- Maintenance of the wooden blocks.
- Learning how to apply colour, how much pressure and how to align the blocks.
- Printing on a fabric of your choice (tote bag, cushion cover, table napkin).
- How to take care of the fabric after it has been printed.
What’s included?
- Fabric to print on (choice of table napkin or tote bag or cushion cover).
- Practise fabric (try your design and blocks on the practise fabric first).
- Large choice of blocks to select from.
- Fabric colours and all the necessary material.
Take home your printed paper napkins and fabric! Note: Activity suitable for 1 to 5 people.
The advanced block printing course

What will you learn in our advanced block printing course?
- Learn the advanced techniques of block printing, such as aligning the borders, using repeat patterns and overlapping prints. Practise these on the practise fabric first.
- When you are confident, you will move to your bigger fabric such as scarf or tote bag or cushion cover.
- We will also learn how to use wooden blocks for printing on paper and do various activities with regards to printing on paper.

- Paper and fabric to print on (choice of tissues, cards, table napkin, kitchen towel).
- Practise fabric (try your design and blocks on the practise fabric first).
- Large choice of blocks to select from.
- Fabric colours and all the necessary material.
- Refreshments such as tea, coffee and cakes will be provided.
Take home your printed fabric! Note: Please pack your lunch for the day, activity suitable for 2 to 5 people.
The studio session (self-taught)

Only guests who have previously participated to either an initiation course or a advanced course on block printing will be allowed for the studio session to practise on their own.
What’s included?
- A huge selection of blocks.
- Bring your own fabric/ paper that you want to print on or you can purchase a fabric / paper from us to print on.
- Space and equipment available to practise your block prints.
- During the studio session you will be responsible for clearing up your desk at the end of the printing session and washing up any paint trays, sponges and printing blocks which you have used.
Note: Space available for a maximum of 5 people.
