Dress your table in natural elegance with this handwoven Madhurkathi reed table runner in a beautiful blue-grey hue, highlighted by golden and natural patterns that bring warmth and refinement. Its natural texture and the interplay of blue-grey and gold create a subtle yet contemporary contrast.
Woven by artisans in West Bengal following the age-old Madur weaving tradition, each piece is unique. The gentle variations in weave and hue reflect its artisanal soul — no two runners are ever the same.
Madhurkathi is a natural reed that has been used for centuries in West Bengal for weaving mats and textiles. This craft, once esteemed enough to be offered as tax during the Jaigirdari era, is a living cultural heritage. Artisans weave the natural reed with cotton thread on traditional looms to create pieces that are both functional and decorative. The blue-grey tones recall monsoon skies, while the golden threads evoke the light of ancient temples.
Wipe gently with a damp cloth or soft brush. Air dry completely before storing. Sun dry occasionally to maintain freshness.
Note: as our products are handmade, slight variations in colour and dimensions are to be expected and are part of the artisanal charm of each piece.
